SEL develops skills for students and adults in recognizing and managing emotions, care about others, making good decisions, developing positive relationships and avoiding negative behaviors. Research shows that SEL increases academic achievement.
We are currently looking for alternative programs to In School Suspension. We are considering an extended after school detention, does anyone have similiar programs? Have they been effective?

- I am an Assistant Principal at Hauppauge High School. Prior to entering administration I taught business and technology education. In addition, I teach as an Adjunct Professor for Dowling College. I earned my doctorate in education from Dowling College.
